After such a great reaction from my Trubikini post on my Instagram page, I was inspired to share a few fun facts about the history of this fabulous swimwear with you, as well as my photos in the bikini.

It's so important to invest in good swimwear that you feel great in, and won't let you down at any critical moments when you are baring your flesh (hopefully not too much) in public!

Trubikini is the only triangle bikini I have discovered that works brilliantly for the larger bust. There are three styles of brief available to suit your preferences, removable gold accents, and I double up the bikini tops and use them as lingerie under my more revealing sundresses when I travel.

If you would like to invest I have a discount code for you to use at checkout which is MIRANDA25 for 25% off. Enjoy!

Did you know that the modern version of the midriff-baring bathing suit is 72 years old? What is more fascinating is that the bikini is actually named after… A NUCLEAR BOMB TEST!

You would never make that connection, however the bikini is named after a hydrogen bomb. French car engineer Louis Réard named the well known two-piece swimsuit in May 1946 (when the bikini was created!) following the U.S. testing hydrogen bombs in Bikini Atoll. He thought the design was just as shocking as these nuclear tests - and the name for the bikini was born.

The first actress to embrace the two piece was Brigitte Bardot. She loved strapless designs, as well as floral and patterned numbers - and of course Brigitte is known for one of her many iconic roles in the movie "Manina, the Girl in the Bikini".

Did you know: when the new bikini first came out it was banned in several countries. In fact, some countries still banned the bikini. Places include Hvar, in Croatia where you can get fined for simply walking the streets in a swimsuit; the Maldives, where most public beaches are exclusively for one-piece suits; and Ras al-Khaimah in United Arab Emirates, where swimwear is banned entirely!

On the other hand, bikinis are widely celebrated - they are the official dress code for female Olympic beach volleyball players! And a Vietnamese airline staffs its planes with bikini-clad flight attendants! VietJet Air is Vietnam's first privately-owned airline and also the world's first airline with flight attendants who dress in bikinis. Company founder Nguyễn Thị Phương Thảo says:

"We don't mind people associating the airline with the bikini image. If that makes people happy, then we are happy.”

This idea has put her in the billionaires club, and the brand has gained over 30% of the Vietnamese airline market.

And if you love bikinis as much as me, why don’t we celebrate it? In fact, there is a National Bikini Day which is celebrated in the United Stats every 5th of July (the anniversary of the day in 1946 when the bikini was introduced to the world!) -So grab your favourite two-piece swimsuit, and hit the nearest beach in style!
